CarePortal
Leveraging Technology for Impact
AFA is proud to utilize CarePortal, a shared technology platform that bridges the gap between families in crisis and community resources. Since its implementation in Sebastian County in 2017, CarePortal has played a pivotal role in reducing foster care numbers by over 50%. By partnering with the Division of Children and Family Services (DCFS) and other local nonprofits, AFA has demonstrated the transformative potential of this tool in addressing family needs before they escalate into crises.
In 2025, AFA plans to expand CarePortal to the following counties: Benton, Washington, Crawford, Franklin, White, Faulkner, and Lonoke. This strategic expansion will allow us to replicate the success achieved in Sebastian County, empowering more communities to prevent family separations, reduce poverty-related crises, and foster long-term stability. By connecting churches, businesses, and individuals to real-time needs, CarePortal transforms compassion into action, ensuring that no family has to navigate challenges alone

Community Champions
Many families in our community are facing real and urgent needs—but it can be hard to know how to help. That’s where Community Champions come in. Through our care-sharing platform, CarePortal, child welfare workers and school partners submit vetted requests, and local individuals, businesses, and organizations step up to meet them.
By becoming a Community Champion, you’ll:
- Directly support local children and families in crisis
- See the tangible impact of your generosity
- Engage your family, business, or team in meaningful service
AFA is working hard every day to develop this network of care to mobilize the community to address these vetted needs. Together, we can mobilize our community and bring hope to families who need it most.
We are expanding quicker than we could have anticipated!
We have exceeded our own expectations, and we couldn’t be happier! If we aren’t active in your county yet, please contact us. And if you’d like to be a county sponsor, the following opportunities are available:
- Community Sponsor – $20,000: Supports training and mobilization of churches and community organizations to engage in CarePortal and respond to family needs.
- Hope Partner – $10,000: Helps provide critical household items such as beds, car seats, and emergency assistance to stabilize families before intervention is needed.
- Family Champion – $5,000: Contributes to technology, communication, and coordination efforts that allow community partners to respond effectively to family needs.
CarePortal is AFA’s primary tool to mobilize the community and church. This care-sharing technology manages current, vetted, local needs for the church and community, providing opportunities for connection between those who want to help with those who need it the most. It is no cost to local churches to have an account.
