CarePortal

Leveraging Technology for Impact

AFA is proud to utilize CarePortal, a shared technology platform that bridges the gap between families in crisis and community resources. Since its implementation in Sebastian County in 2017, CarePortal has played a pivotal role in reducing foster care numbers by over 50%. By partnering with the Division of Children and Family Services (DCFS) and other local nonprofits, AFA has demonstrated the transformative potential of this tool in addressing family needs before they escalate into crises.

In 2025, AFA plans to expand CarePortal to the following counties: Benton, Washington, Crawford, Franklin, White, Faulkner, and Lonoke. This strategic expansion will allow us to replicate the success achieved in Sebastian County, empowering more communities to prevent family separations, reduce poverty-related crises, and foster long-term stability. By connecting churches, businesses, and individuals to real-time needs, CarePortal transforms compassion into action, ensuring that no family has to navigate challenges alone

Transformative Outcomes

By addressing poverty and meeting tangible needs, AFA is not just alleviating immediate challenges but transforming lives. A child who receives a bed today sleeps better, learns better, and has the opportunity for a brighter future. A mother who receives the support to create a safe home environment breaks the cycle of domestic violence and poverty. A family that stays together avoids the trauma of foster care and the long-term consequences of separation. These interventions ripple outward, reducing crime, improving education outcomes, and fostering healthier communities.

CarePortal is a Care-Sharing technology that connects people in need with people who want to help — much like ride-sharing connects riders with drivers. Every day, neighbors step in to support families in crisis, helping to repair and strengthen them before they break. Always with a nearby local church facilitating the connection. It’s a movement where small acts of kindness are making a big impact in local communities.

Community Champions

Many families in our community are facing real and urgent needs—but it can be hard to know how to help. That’s where Community Champions come in. Through our care-sharing platform, CarePortal, child welfare workers and school partners submit vetted requests, and local individuals, businesses, and organizations step up to meet them.

By becoming a Community Champion, you’ll:

  • Directly support local children and families in crisis
  • See the tangible impact of your generosity
  • Engage your family, business, or team in meaningful service

AFA is working hard every day to develop this network of care to mobilize the community to address these vetted needs. Together, we can mobilize our community and bring hope to families who need it most.

CarePortal is AFA’s primary tool to mobilize the community and church. This care-sharing technology manages current, vetted, local needs for the church and community, providing opportunities for connection between those who want to help with those who need it the most. It is no cost to local churches to have an account.

Expanding Our Impact

AFA is seeking funding to expand its impact, particularly as we scale our efforts to meet the growing needs in our community. Your investment will support initiatives that prevent crises, reunify families, and provide the tools for long-term stability and independence. Together, we can change lives, reduce the societal costs of inaction, and build a stronger, more resilient community for all.
